If you are passionnate about esport (electronic sport), you probably know "The French Monster". Otherwise, you have to know him for your personnal culture !
In 2001, Corentin Houssein (8 years old) receives an Xbox as a gift and discovers video games. He plays a lot at different games and starts competition in Europe at 12 years old. He has to miss school for his competitions and many people don't understand why, "it's just video games, it's not a real job" they told him.
Fortunately, Corentin doesn't listen to them and continues these competitions, he participates to win a trophy or just 20 dollars (now, the winner can win 3 millions dollars !).
Then, he decides to broadcast in live his games of Call of Duty, he becomes the first french to do that. He starts to become popular and win some European competitions, people start to call him "The French Monster".
With friends, he decides to create the "Team Vitality" in 2013, one of the first french esport team. This team starts their competitions in the video game Call of Duty. Next, they start to diversify on other video games and they are becoming one of the most popular team in the world ! Everyone is afraid to face the Vitality and its leader: Gotaga, The French Monster.
As you can see in the tables below, the Vitality Team has a very important place in the world esport competitions !
After winning many competitions, Gotaga is now on YouTube (3.5 million subscribers) and Twitch (1.8 million subscribers) and participates less in competitions.
Recently, he participated at "ZEvent", a french event gathering 50 streamers during 3 days to collect donations for a health institute (Institut Pasteur). With the help of The French Monster, they collected 3.5 millions euros (5.670.000 australian dollars) which is the world record donations on Twitch !
In summary, Corentin Houssein became the most famous french esport player, created one of the most popular team in the world, has 5.3 million subscribers on Youtube combined, developed esport in France and Europe and helped to collect 3.5 million euros for a health institute.
We can definitely say, it's The French Monster !
